Abstract: In this paper, we focus on MPEG-2 video coding motion estimation, and propose a new fast two-stage block matching algorithm. Analysis shows that the data rate and computing complexity of the proposed algorithm are smaller than other existing two-stage algorithms, and the new algorithm can be more easily implemented by VLSI technology. Moreover, experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has good quality performance.-
