Abstract: A syntactic approach used to antomatically, recognize peaks in digital spectrum data sequences is described in this paper. In order to facilitate the recognition of spectral peaks, the spectrum data sequence is encoded as a spectral peak description sentence first, then the spectral peaks are selected one after another by a spectral peak recognition automaton. The spectral peak grammer which generates the spectral peak description language and the spectral peak recognition automaton used to recognize the spectral peaks are detailed in the paper. At the same time, some experimental results are given.
